My review of EPS

I remember back in the 1980’s and 1990’s seeing advertisements for ways to make money by processing mail. I even joined one. You sent someone $5, and then you got the ads to put up around town or post in the mail. You made copies of the material and whenever someone sent you $5 from one of your ads, you sent them the material. Now fast forward 20 years…

Today we are looking at Email Processing System, or EPS. EPS is the natural evolution of the mail-order money machine. Its ads say that you can have unlimited income, making $100s a day, all by processing emails. But, can you really?

It costs $25 to join EPS. You get the basic material with that to start placing ads. That $25 gets you the information to send to others, a webpage for them to sign up through, and the right to use the EPS name. For an extra cost you can get a nice looking landing page to send your prospects to, too help close the deal.

The business plan is very simple: You promote EPS and people pay $25 to join. That $25 goes directly to your PayPal account instantly. Simple and easy. The more people that sign up, the more money you make. Anyone can do it from the comfort of their own home in their spare time. No levels or tiers, no MLM, just your sales paying you directly. What could be easier?

Now, for the question that pops into everyone’s head: is it a scam?

What is important to understand is that with the EPS membership, and it is a membership, you do not really get anything other than the membership. There is no real training, no products, and nothing to maintain. You have access to the EPS name and brand. Yes, there is a few pages of training that you get on how to process emails and payments when you get them, but there is nothing really applicable to other business models in the training.

Now, there is certainly the opportunity to earn money with it. There are people out there who are looking for a work-at-home business, who have $25 and who can do the work. The difficulty is getting them to sign up. Many people do view this business plan as a scam. They have seen plans like this, maybe participated in one or two, and found it to be something other than what they expected.
Keeping in mind what the EPS business model is, I don’t feel I can truly say it is a scam. You are not promising something that is not delivered. It is up to the person doing the marketing to get people to sign up for it. If you understand what your $25 gets you it is not a scam.

However, I will say that making any money at EPS is going to be difficult. People are aware that your $25 does not get you anything of real value and it does not guarantee a return. There are many other businesses that provide something other than just the membership in the company or service. So, while I will say it is not a scam, it is definitely not the easiest way to make money in a home based business. Therefore, if you choose to proceed with EPS as a business choice, be prepared to have to work hard promoting it.

My Review of MCA

Today, I would like to review a company that I really believe in. I have had the fortune to come across a few companies that I think are really good and offer a great product, and Motor Club of America is one of them.

Motor Club of America, or MCA, is a company that offers roadside assistance, legal assistance for vehicle related issues and a host of other services. Roadside assistance is similar to AAA in that it includes towing up to 100 miles at no cost, battery boost service, tire change, fuel delivery and more with its membership. It will also assist with hotel accommodations if you are in an accident while traveling, including help with meals and a rental car if necessary. If you are arrested due to a traffic incident it will help with bail and attorney fees. There is also a stolen vehicle reward if your vehicle is stolen.

In addition to the auto benefits, membership plans include assistance with trip planning, prescription, dental and vision discount plans,  hospital and emergency assistance if you are hurt in an accident, accidental death benefits and emergency travel assistance if you are hospitalized and need to be moved to another location. The plans start for as little as $9.99 a month. Now, your first payment will be double that because you pay for your first and last month. Then, going forward it is the regular price. For the price, it is great.

The reason I say that this is a company that I really believe in is because I have used their service. the back breaks on my car went out one day. (Actually, the mechanic said that it "exploded", sending pieces through the dust cover and destroying the drum and most of the break parts inside. He said he had never seen anything like it!) Well, as quickly as I could I pulled over and, after I looked at it I decided it needed a real mechanic. So, I called MCA. Within an hour, which is pretty good when waiting for a wrecker, a tow truck was there, the car was loaded and delivered to my mechanic which was about 20 miles away. All at no cost to me!

Now, many people have similar coverage through their insurance or AAA, but I feel that with all the additional benefits and the promptness of service that my money with MCA is well spent. But, what about the business side of it? Well, the good news is that it does not cost anything extra to get involved with the business. Once you are a MCA member, you are also automatically an affiliate as well, and you earn commission on any new members you sign up. Commissions are paid every Friday on the memberships you promoted the week prior.

The next question is how much money do I make? Well, first let me clarify the cost of the membership. There are three plans: a $9.95 plan, a $14.99 plan and a $19.99 plan. There are several ways you get paid through MCA, which can be kind of confusing. I'm going to try and explain them as clearly as I can. First, there is what I call Direct Commission. When you sell a membership the person buying it makes the first payment (which is for the two months, as I explained earlier). The next Friday you will be paid $40, $60 or $80, depending on which plan they chose. This is your first year commission on the new membership. The commission is paid in advance to you when you make the sale. So, you sell a $9.99 per month membership, the person buying it pays $19.90, and next Friday $40 is deposited into your account.

Here is the catch to this: this is a commission on the first year membership. If the person cancels the membership before the first year MCA will take back the commission for the portion of that first year that the membership was not active. This is called a chargeback. For example, on that $9.99 sell from the last paragraph, say the person keeps it for 6 months. Then MCA places a chargeback on your account for $20. ($40 divided by twelve months is $3.33, times six months is $20) This would just be taken out of your next commission check.

But, let's say that the person keeps the membership. This brings us to the second way to make money. What I call Residual Income. After the first year, you are paid the monthly commission for each membership you sell for the life of that membership. So, on that same $9.95 membership, after the first year you will make $3.33 per month off of that one time sell. (for the $14.99 plan it would be $5 and for the $19.99 plan it would be $6.66) Doesn't sound like much, but think about it. If you did one sell a week, your Residual Income for each month for the first year would be $173.16 per month. If you continue making sells at the rate of one a week every year, that would be $346.32 per month the second year, $519.48 per month the third year, and so on. As you can see, this has the potential to add up. Of course, it is highly unlikely that every single membership will continue indefinitely, but the potential is there. One good thing is that if a membership cancels at this point, you do not get a chargeback. You just no longer receive commission for that sell.

Now, for the third way of making money with MCA, which is called Override. When you signed up that member on the $9.95 plan, that member is now an affiliate under you. This person would then be your level 1 affiliate. Let's say that this affiliate tells someone else about it and this new person joins for $9.99. Your level 1 affiliate makes $40 commission, just like you did. You make $4 off of that sell, and you didn't have to do anything to earn it! Again, it doesn't sound like much. But, you have 52 affiliates after your first year. If each of those level 1 affiliates makes one sell per week, that would be $208 per week. That is an extra $901.33 per month on sells that you don't even make in addition to the $173.16 per month that you get from the Residual Income and the $160 per month that you earn with your personal sells of one $9.99 membership per week. That comes to a total of $1,234.49 per month!

But there is more. The member that your level 1 affiliate added becomes your level 2 affiliate. For your level 2 affiliates you earn $1.32 + $0.39 Override per month. And, you earn the same for members they add, who become your level 3 affiliates. This is a whole lot of possible income that could be yours. And remember, you are just paying $9.99 a month for your membership.

Now, Of course, this is potential. The chances of every sell ever made from you and your affiliates remaining active forever is slim, but chances are good that a large number of them will. And remember that all these figures were done with the lowest priced plan, which gives the lowest income potential. If you promote the $19.99 per month plan, you can earn even more! Now, you don't have to join at the $19.99 plan to get those commissions. If you are on the $9.99 plan, and you sell the $19.99 plan, you get the commission for the $19.99 plan.

There are also other opportunities to make more money with MCA. There are other plans that include additional income streams. I have not included these with this post because it is already long. Perhaps I will do these on a future blog post.

In summary, I think that MCA is a great service! The product that you get for your monthly membership is well worth the cost. There is a great income potential with MCA. You do have to promote the product, but it is a great value which makes it easy to do. The only risk I have found is the chargeback on the first year memberships if it cancels, but I have not personally found that it affects my income as very few memberships I have sold have canceled. I do highly recommend MCA both for the product and the income.

Superior Freebies review

For my first review I would like to discuss a company that I became involved with about a year ago called Superior Freebies. Superior Freebies is a company that markets promotional products for other companies such as MyCreditScore.com, GoDaddy, many book and magazine clubs and a host of others. It is a referral based business, so you refer others to the Superior Freebies.

It costs nothing to join Superior Freebies. Once you join, you must participate in a number of promotional offers to gain a full credit. Some of the promotions do have a cost involved. I spent $8 on promotions when I joined. As long as you cancel the promotion at the end of the trial period, there is no further cost. Once you have done this, you can refer others to the service so that they can try products and promotions. You earn money by successfully referring people. Once your referral has earned a full credit, you are paid $54! Not too shabby.

Your money is paid to you through Superior Freebies out of what other companies pay them for getting their products into the public eye. Hence it is possible to earn $54 per person without you ever having to spend more than what your initial promotions cost. It is quite easy to make your money back. Of course, if you want to try more products, you certainly can.

There are some challenges. It is not easy to get people to sign up for the promotions. You have to be consistent in your work and promoting of Superior Freebies. The people you refer have to remember to cancel at the end of the promotional period or they will be charged the regular price for continuing products or services. It is a numbers game. The more you promote it, the more likely you are to make money at it.

Many people view this as a scam. I have seen several web pages talking about Superior Freebies being nothing but a pyramid scheme. It is not. You make money from referring people and they pay for the promotions. You are essentially doing the work of an advertising company, but doing it by word of mouth, or word of keyboard.

In summary, I think that this is a legitimate business. How well you do at it depends on how well you are able to market it and get people to sign up for it. There is potential to earn a nice amount from it. You just have to keep at it, promoting it and encouraging people to participate.

Welcome to Shawn's Work at Home Reviews!

Hello, and welcome to my new blog!

I'm Shawn, and I will be writing about my experiences with work at home companies, affiliate marketing, reviewing new opportunities and hopefully pointing out good companies to make money with.

Of course, anyone who has ever tried to make money with a "work at home" company has found that many are scams, pyramid schemes and things that just do not work. I have had my fair share of them, and then some. And, I am always looking for new opportunities. I have been doing different programs for about four years now, and I am starting to make a some money with them.

So, a little about me. I'm 45 when I am starting this blog. I've had MANY different jobs over the years, from tech support to customer service, carpentry and most other areas of construction, I've been a driver and a courier, worked in security, drove an armored truck, been a cook in fast food, and many other things. To say that I'm the "jack of all trades" would not be incorrect. Well, about two years ago I developed nerve damage in my back which left me with a problem walking, driving, dancing and all the fun things I use to do, including working. Now I have since began getting disability, which is impossible to live on, so I am not completely penniless. But, anyone that thinks they can live on $1k a month when you have difficulty walking is in for a shock. So, I had to do something else.

Now I had done a little network marketing before with a company which I will be reviewing. Unfortunately I did not have a lot of success. Partially because I did not have the time to commit to it because of my work schedule at the time and partially because I never committed fully to doing it. But, with my current situation I have nothing but time, and an intense need to have some supplemental income. I am no longer with that company, but I have considered going back to it. I have since become involved with a number of different work at home programs, companies and even a few that were scams. I'll be talking about those as well, and hopefully you will be able to avoid those scams.

Now, just so you know, no company or individual is going to be paying me for these reviews. They are completely based on my own personal experience. Now, if you see something I post and would want to be involved with it, awesome! If the link isn't on the review, which I am going to try and make sure that I include, just let me know. If you would like me to review a company, program or service I'll be happy to.

I do believe that there is money to be made in work at home programs, affiliate marketing and network marketing. Hopefully, as I continue to work in it and find new opportunities I can also help others to be successful as well. So, check back soon, and I will be writing several reviews over the next few days. I look forward to hearing from you.
